Barber Shop Update. 10/10/14

As most of you know, I’ve seen been cutting hair down in the Peninsula (20 minutes south of San Francisco) previously in Redwood City and now (currently) in Belmont. And for some of my San Francisco based clients, it wasn’t feasible to make the trek down to see me… which is perfectly understandable. But for those clients that have stuck with me through the transitions: I appreciate y’all! But… there’s some good news to be had!

Starting October 21, I’ll be splitting my time from my Belmont location with the brand new barber shop in the Dogpatch district, Cream’s Barbershoppe, owned by none other than Chris Eliares. He was one of the barbers I worked with at the beginning stages of my career that helped me progress in this craft, so getting back into the swing of things alongside of him will only lead to more progression! I definitely can’t wait to be back up in San Francisco, cutting hair, no less!

For the time being, I will only be working on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, with the potential of being opened on Mondays given the demand.

So, if you’re one of my previous clients from San Francisco or looking for a barber in the San Francisco Bay Area, book an appointment with me at the new location. There’s some fun to be had! Book an appointment with me via email:

Other methods of booking an appointment will be updated in a later date.

Hope to see y’all soon.

Barbering Updatte: 02/24/2014

Just quick update since some people aren’t quite aware of where I’m at to book an appointment with me:

Since the morning of 01/31/2014, I was no longer a barber at The Barber Lounge in San Francisco and haven’t had any further appointments in the shop for the following month, and have been cutting hair in Redwood City.

I would like to thank each and every one of my clients I have met and made through the shop. I know many of you tried to make appointments with me at the shop, though I am no longer there. It’s been an honor to have had the opportunity to give you the best possible haircut I could offer and have your patience and willingness to help me grow as a barber. It’s been a blast and I hope to eventually have each and every one of you back in the chair at somepoint.

At the moment, I am cutting hair full-time at Captain’s Skate & Barber Shop in Downtown Redwood City.

If any one of my previous clients in San Francisco are looking to make in-house or in-office haircut appointments, I schedule appointments on Tuesdays starting at 11. Cutoff time to book an appointment is 4, unless I’m already in the city tending to another client. A week in advance notice is preferred.

To book one of these appointments, email me at: therebelrouser@yahoo.com

Well, I hope that clears up any misconception as to where I’ve taken my barbering services to, as I’ve had several requests to book appointments at The Barber Lounge in San Francisco.

Until the next time…

Captain’s Sk8 & Barber Shop!

As most of y’all know, I’m no longer at The Barber Lounge in San Francisco. I’ll be reviewing my “experience” shortly! Yeah, that’ll be fun!

Now that my time is freed up, I’ll be at Captain’s Sk8 & Barber Shop more frequently! The days on the board will be updated shortly. But, swing on by for a cut and kick back with a brew!

Big thanks for all of the support with this slight transition!

New Barber Shop: Captain’s.

Starting this Saturday, Redwood City’s Captain’s Skate Shop will have a soft-opening for their barber shop. Towards the back of the store, there will be three stations set-up. Can you guess who will be occupying one? The hours will be going alongside the retail stores hours, but may change given the demand. I’ll be there starting at 11!

Not only will quality haircuts and straight razor shaves be offered, but there will be quite a variety of pomade to purchase! Of course, I’ll be suggesting some brands to carry. They have quite a few brands to start with, but who said you only have to have a few? Can’t ever have too much pomade!

Here’s a sneak peak:

The shop is located at 2066 Broadway Street in Redwood City. Right in the heart of the downtown area, you can kick back in the shop or grab a bite to eat while you wait. It’s in an area where you won’t mind waiting around for a cut! Trust me, in due time, this shop will have a lot to offer!

So far, I’ll be retaining my Tuesday, Thursday, and Fridays at my current spot in San Francisco, but I’ll be available here for Wednesdays and Saturdays. Sundays and Mondays are also available upon request. To book an appointment with me for this shop, shoot me an email at therebelrouser@yahoo.com and we’ll get an appointment figured out.

For the time being, stay tuned on the Instagram page: Captainsbarbers and see how this shop will progress into a killer barber shop in the Bay Area!

Hope to see y’all soon.

Recent Haircuts.

Here are a few more haircuts over the last few months. You can see slow progression from certain cuts, which is definitely something I’m excited to see! Can’t stop won’t stop growing with this profession… Once you start to get complacent or cocky, you’re fucked! Ain’t nobody got time for that type of barber!

Well, folks, I hope you enjoy the following haircuts!

If you like what you see and want to get a haircut from me, you can find me cutting hair at:

The Barber Lounge  (854 Folsom Street, San Francisco) – Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 9-8 (Last appointment is at 7)
To book an appointment with me, you can call the shop number at (415) 934-0411 or email me directly at therebelrouser@yahoo.com and I’ll fit you in my books!

In the near future, you’ll also be able to find me at:

Captain’s Skate & Barber Shop (2066 Broadway Street, Redwood City) – Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, Saturday
To book an appointment with me, you can call the shop number at (650) 568-1931 or email me directly at therebelrouser@yahoo.com. I’ll also be taking walk-ins!

End of an Era: Barber School.

If you’ve been following my Instagram, you may have noticed that I’ve finished barber school at the end of March. It’s been a quick 10 months, but I’ve got to say, it was a blast! I’ve learned something completely foreign to me, met a lot of great folks , and didn’t veer away from the goal: become a licensed barber and rule the world… Well, I think the last part is part of a different plan, but whatever…

I remember pulling up to the school to check it out and thinking, “Can I do this?” and had the want of driving back home and say fuck it. I mean, I’ve postponed looking into a barber school for nearly three years, and to suddenly find a school and show up to it? Yeah, it was scary! Of course, it’s always intimidating to jump into something so new such as barbering, and even more intimidating considering I’ve never cut hair whatsoever prior to! And being around people who more than likely cut hair on a regular? Man… Then you gotta think about you actually have to cut someones hair for the very first time?!?! Fuuuck…

But alas, I stuck with it, had great people help me throughout the duration of school, and I’m proud to say that as of April 8, 2013, I am officially a licensed barber! Now, I’m not attaching “barber” to my title, because I want my skill-level to be at a certain place first, and that won’t be for a good few years! Even so, I’ll be wanting my skills to be at a different place by then!

So, will I ever be “Jan Hella The Barber?” “The Rebel Barber?” “Hella The Barber” Shit, who knows!

Big thanks to everyone who has supported this journey! Grant’s Golden Brand, Layrite, Crown Shaving Co., Frankie The Barber, Chops Barbershop, each and every barber I’ve had the pleasure to meet and cut along side with throughout school, all my readers and followers, especially the ones who came down and entrusted me with their hair and faces, and whoever else I may have forgotten!

It’s been a blast and now my journey continues in the barber shop!

Until the next time…
